Jayhawks Give Back
An important part of the Kansas Basketball tradition is giving back. Coach Self has demonstrated a deep commitment to the community and to improving the lives of young people by founding Assists, a public charity that awards grants, scholarships, and funding for various youth initiatives. By example, and through team outreach activities there are many ways that he imparts the value of service and helping others to his players and the entire Jayhawk family. Throughout the year the Jayhawks are involved in a variety of community service initiatives, including visits to area schools for the Fun and Fitness campaign, Special Olympics clinics, purchasing holiday gifts for needy families, and hosting young students on campus as part of the Visit the Jayhawks program, to name a few.
