Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little's message to KU's faculty and staff:
Dear Colleagues,
Jayhawks around the world are brought together by our traditions, including our school colors, crimson and blue. Since 1896, they have been part of our university's identity, and you don't have to go far in any of our communities before seeing someone decked out in KU gear.
The wearing of school colors is a demonstration of our pride in the university and a way to convey that pride to prospective members of the Jayhawk family.
It is also a great way to show support for our student-athletes as they take to the field to represent our university, including Coach Turner Gill's football team, which will kick off the 2011 season this Saturday.
That's why I invite you to wear blue the Friday before every home football game starting with this Friday, which is College Colors Day, a nationwide celebration of school spirit.
As a KU employee you can also take advantage of a special ticket offer for the football home opener this Saturday, September 3. Kansas Athletics is offering a special ticket price of $20 for faculty and staff.
Jayhawks are united by traditions and a commitment to excellence. And on Fridays this fall, we'll also be united in our demonstration of pride in the university we all love.
Rock Chalk!
Chancellor
