Kansas women's golf coach Erin O'Neil and Williams Education Fund Director Greg Gurley teamed up to record a double eagle on the par four, 14th hole at Alvamar Country Club at Monday's Family Promise of Lawrence Golf Tournament.
Representing the event's Co-Honorary Chair Cindy Self's team were O'Neil, Gurley, KU baseball head coach Ritch Price and men's basketball director of operations Barry Hinson. Playing a scramble format, the KU foursome scored a 58, which placed them second in the event.
Gurley blasted his tee shot 323 yards on the 14th hole, which measures 512 yards. Using a hybrid club, O'Neil then made the shot of the day from 189 yards out.
"We didn't see it go in but, we knew it was close," O'Neil said. "We went up to the hole and walked around, then Barry Hinson found it in the cup."
"We had a great time for a great cause," Hinson said. "Erin's shot just made the day that much better."
