A facilities crewmember helped remove turf from the softball field prior to initial excavation. The turf was reinstalled at Rim Rock Farm, which is used by the KU cross country team for home meets.

 Heavy equipment crews worked to achieve the correct grade and lay drainage pipes.

 Workers continued to refine the preliminary grade of the new KU softball field. Once completed, drainage pipes will be laid and then coverd by the infield surface in early September and the outfield turf in late September.
Once work on the grade was finished, the new field began to take shape.

 Sprinklers went to work feeding the new turf.

 Construction crews worked on the new batting cages. Fencing for the outfield and along the foul lines also was installed.
