Kevin McCarty joined Kansas Athletics in August, 2011 and will serve as the department's interactive web designer. He is in charge of enhancing the look and functionality of KUAthletics.com and assisting with the department's digital media efforts. McCarty came to Kansas after spending the 2010-11 school year as the director of athletic communications at Angelo State University. While at Angelo State he oversaw the publicity efforts of the school's 13-sport program, the school's athletic website and social media initiatives. His media relations career includes student assistant stops at Oklahoma State, Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State before securing a graduate assistant position at Illinois State and the full-time position at ASU. McCarty also spent time as a web manager/assistant general manager at the Mineral Wells Steam of the Texas Collegiate baseball league and as a sports reporter at the Hutchinson News. McCarty graduated from Kansas State with a public relations degree in 2008 and earned a master's degree in sport management from Illinois State in 2010. McCarty is a member of the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) andCollegiate Athletic Internet & Digital Association (CAIDA). He also serves on the advisory board for The Salvation Army of Douglas County. Born in Waukegan, Ill., McCarty graduated from Hutchinson (Kan.) High School. He is married to Brooksie. |
