Bob Newton

Since August of 1984 Bob Newton has served as the producer/engineer for Kansas football and basketball radio broadcasts. He is also responsible for coaches' call-in shows and maintaining network affiliate communications. Newton also works as an engineer and operations assistant for KJHK, the school's student radio station. Newton was the operations manager and station manager for Lawrence radio stations KLWN and KLZR from 1974-2000 and the technical director from 2001-06. He also is a part-time duty officer and public information officer for Douglas County Emergency Management Agency, from 1997-present. He is a member of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Douglas County Public Information Officers. He is a former chairman of the KAB and has served on the boards of both Leadership Lawrence and Leadership Kansas. Newton was born in Tulsa, Okla. and attended Edison High School in his hometown. He graduated from Kansas in 1970. He and his wife Pat, have two grown children, Bill and Christy, who are both Kansas graduates. Newton is very active in the local community theatre as an actor and stage crew member. |
