Eventful Saturday Concludes 87th Kansas Relays

Photo Gallery \\ RESULTS \\ LAWRENCE, Kan. – A pair of multiple-event winners and some of the nation's top times sent the 87th Kansas Relays out with a bang as the meet came to a close Saturday inside Rock Chalk Park. Just over 6,000 fans filled the brand-new facility and witnessed some of the best performances in the country so far this year at both the high school and collegiate levels.

Photo Gallery  Day 3 Results \\ LAWRENCE, Kan. – With many of the track events in preliminary rounds, the field events, and more specifically, the throwing event stepped up to make day three of the 87th Kansas Relays a memorable one. Former NCAA Champion and current World leader, Tim Glover, threw past the competition in the javelin, while the Olympic Silver medalist, Christian Cantwell, picked up his first win in the Downtown Olympic Shot Put.

The Rock Chalk Park track facility produced some of the fastest times the historic meet has seen in years and saw a Lawrence native pick up her first collegiate victory in front of her hometown fans.

Combined Events Kick Off on Day One of 87th Kansas Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Rock Chalk Park is officially open as the 87th edition of the Kansas Relays got underway Wednesday, April 16 at the new home of Kansas Track & Field. Nebraska's Guy Fenske earned the overnight lead in the decathlon after posting a score of 3,666 points following the first five events, while Truman's Rebecca Nelson is the leader in the heptathlon with her total of 3,042 points.

The 2014 Kansas Relays are set to take place Wednesday-Saturday, April 16-19 at the newly constructed Rock Chalk Park. The 87th installment of the meet is again expected to draw strong representation from across the Midwest among the high school and collegiate ranks. This year's KU Relays is expected to feature competitors from more than 300 high school teams and 250 colleges and universities, totaling more than 4,000 entries from 22 states.
