Women's Swim & Dive - Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas diver Shiyun Lai was named to the All-Big 12 First Team and swimmers Lydia Lafferty and Lezli Sisung earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors, the conference office announced Thursday.

Maureen “Mo” Sheehan, a widely renowned coach who swam at the University of Kansas and served the swimming community for 38 years, passed away on March 17 at 65 years old.

Ainsley Dillon, Hailey Farrell, Brigid Gwidt and Lize van Leeuwen were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for their performance in the pool and the classroom. All four KU honorees were nominated with a 4.00 cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Freshman diver Shiyun Lai has been named an All-American Second Team selection for the one and three-meter diving events, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced Tuesday.

Kansas diver Shiyun Lai capped off a stellar freshman season for the Jayhawks after receiving Honorable Mention All-American honors in both the one and three-meter diving events at the 2024 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Georgia this weekend. 

Kansas freshman standout Shiyun Lai qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships after finishing in the top 11 of the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the Zone Diving Championships. 

Kansas divers Shiyun Lai, Lize van Leeuwen, Gabriela San Juan Carmona and Lauren Gryboski are set to dive at the 2024 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships from March 11-13 at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Center.

Freshman diver Shiyun Lai earned first-place honors in the three-meter dive as the Kansas swimming and diving team placed seventh in the 2024 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships with 647.50 points, which concluded on Saturday at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.

Lezli Sisung claimed a sixth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke as Kansas wrapped up day four of the 2024 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Morgantown, West Virginia on Friday.

The Kansas swimming and diving team was right back in action for the second day of the 2024 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships in Morgantown, West Virginia, on Wednesday at Mylan Park Aquatic Center.
