LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Jayhawks continue its Texas swing by hosting Texas Tech (6-8, 0-3 Big 12) on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks (7-8, 0-3 Big 12) have won two of the last four games against the Red Raiders (6-8, 0-3 Big 12) while the two teams meet for the 22nd time in KU history. The game will be broadcast live on the Jayhawk Television Network/ESPN3 and Jayhawk Radio Network.
 
KANSAS FAST BREAKS
• KU has won two of the last four contests against Texas Tech and is 3-7 against the Red Raiders when playing inside Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks swept the 2011-12 series with victories in Lawrence and Lubbock.
• Defensively, Kansas has held six opponents to under 37 percent shooting from the field, which includes two of the last three games. KU has held eight opponents to under 40 percent shooting in 2013-14.
• The Jayhawks have outrebounded 10-of-14 opponents this season, including six of the last eight games. Kansas’ largest rebound margin was 16 in the season opener against Oral Roberts.
• Kansas shot a season-best 53.3 percent from beyond the arc at TCU (1/8) making 8-of-15 against the Horned Frogs. The Jayhawks made a season-high 12 three-pointers against Texas Southern (12/12).
• KU has a record of 119-53 (.704) in Allen Fieldhouse under Henrickson and an all-time home record of 396-153 (.723).
• Kansas’ all-time Big 12 record is 108-171, while KU is 51-100 in conference play under Henrickson.
• In Big 12 action, senior CeCe Harper is averaging 3.0 steals per game. She is also averaging 8.6 assists per game in the last five games. On the season, she is averaging 5.5 assists per game after dishing out 82 in 2013-14.
• Junior forward Chelsea Gardner is averaging three blocks per game in conference play. She had two blocks at TCU which moved her into 10th place on Kansas’ all-time blocks list. She has 26 on the year and 91 in her career.
• Guard Natalie Knight couldn’t be stopped from behind the arc at TCU. The junior made 6-of-7 (.857) from the three-point line. The six three-pointers was a career-high for Knight, who surpassed her previous career-best of five against Iowa State in 2013.
• Senior Markisha Hawkins is making the most of her minutes off the bench. The guard scored a career-high 16 points against CMU (11/28) and recently grabbed a career-best six rebounds at TCU (1/8). She is averaging 4.9 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.
 
ABOUT THE JAYHAWKS
Junior guard Natalie Knight led the Jayhawks with a season-high 20 points at TCU behind 6-of-7 (.857) shooting from beyond the arc.Knight is averaging 9.1 points per game after starting every contest. Junior forward Chelsea Gardner recorded two blocks against TCU to move into 10th all-time on Kansas’ block list. She has 26 blocks on the season and is scoring a team-high 15.9 points per game.
 
Senior guard CeCe Harper is averaging 8.6 assists in the last five games and three steals per game in Big 12 action. On the year, she is averaging 5.5 assists per game and has a total of 82 while averaging 9.4 points per game. Junior guard Asia Boyd is averaging 12.8 points per game in 11 starts. She is also averaging 5.3 boards per contest. Freshman Jada Brown started for the second-consecutive game and is averaging 3.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game since being inserted into the starting lineup.

Freshman guard Dakota Gonzalez continues to be one of the first Jayhawks head coach Bonnie Henrickson calls upon from the bench. She is averaging 4.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. She has appeared in 13-of-15 KU contests in 2013-14 and is playing 14.8 minutes per game. Senior guard Markisha Hawkins came off the bench and scored 12 points on the road at TCU. She also grabbed a career-high six rebounds. Hawkins is averaging 4.9 points and 15.2 minutes per game.
 
Freshman forward Caelynn Manning-Allen collected her first career start in the final game of 2013 against Yale. She is averaging 1.3 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. Junior forward Bunny Williams has also appeared in every game and started eight this season. She is averaging 2.0 boards in 14.5 minutes per game. Sophomore guard Lamaria Cole is averaging 13.0 minutes per game in 12 appearances. She has 19 assists and 12 steals on the year and is averaging 3.8 points per game. Freshman guard Dylan Gonzalez is averaging 1.3 points and 3.0 minutes per game in six appearances.
 
KANSAS VS. TEXAS TECH: THE SERIES
The Red Raiders lead the overall series 16-5 and have won the last two contests. Kansas won both games during the 2011-12 season, which snapped TTU’s 12-game winning streak. The Jayhawks opened the series with a 76-53 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock on Dec. 2, 1978.
 
THE LAST TIME OUT
Kansas last faced Texas Tech on Feb. 24, 2013 and the Red Raiders edged KU 72-70 in the final seconds of the game. Kansas overcame a 16-point first-half deficit, but Texas Tech’s Christine Hyde drove the lane in the final four seconds to fend off the Jayhawk comeback and claim the victory. Angel Goodrich led KU with 23 points, her sixth 20-plus point effort of the season.
 
SCOUTING THE Red Raiders
Texas Tech is two games under .500 with an overall mark of 6-8 on the season and is 0-3 in Big 12 action. The Red Raiders have lost four-straight games heading into Saturday’s contest. Junior guard Amber Battle leads TTU with 17.4 points per game, which is fourth among the conference standings. She also leads the team with 8.6 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Defensively, senior center Haley Schneider leads the team with 1.7 blocks per game. The Red Raiders average 62.1 points per game and are shooting 38.3 percent from the field. On the defensive side, Texas Tech is averaging 7.1 steals and 3.8 blocks per game.
 
TCU LEFTOVERS
• Junior Natalie Knight led the Jayhawks against TCU with a season-high 20 points behind 6-of-7 (85.7) shooting from behind the arc. Knight’s six treys marks a career-best surpassing her previous career-high of five, which she set vs. Iowa State on Jan. 30, 2013 and is the most by a Jayhawk since Danielle McCray recorded six against Baylor in 2009.
• The 52-50 loss to TCU was KU’s second overall to the Horned Frogs and snapped Kansas’ three-game winning streak.
• Kansas held TCU to 15 first-half points, the lowest surrendered by the Jayhawks in the first period this season, and 52 on the night, which is the lowest offensive output by an opponent in 2013-14. KU also held the Horned Frogs to 36.5 percent shooting for the contest.
• Junior Chelsea Gardner blocked two shots in the second half to bring her career total to 91 and place her 10th all-time on the Kansas block list.
 
A LONE STAR STATE OF MIND
After opening Big 12 play at home against West Virginia, the Jayhawks are set to play five-straight games against opponents from Texas. Three of those five games, Kansas travels to the Lone Star state, which is home to Chelsea Gardner, CeCe Harper, Lamaria Cole and Bunny Williams. KU opens and closes the Texas swing with No. 7 Baylor. In that span, Kansas travels to Baylor, TCU and Texas, while hosting Texas Tech and Baylor.
 
A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
Kansas is among the top five in several Big 12 statistical categories in 2013-14. The Jayhawks are fourth in the conference in blocked shots with 4.7 per game and fifth in steals per game with 8.2. KU has the fifth-best free throw percentage in the Big 12 at 71.5 percent. The Jayhawks also recorded the most free throw attempts in a single game with 54 against Oral Roberts (11/10) and shot the second-highest field goal percentage at 61.4 percent against Creighton on Nov. 17.
 
Individually, junior forward Chelsea Gardner is first in the league with four double-doubles on the season. Gardner ranks sixth in the conference standings in scoring (15.9 ppg) and third in field goal percentage (.601). She is second in defensive rebounds with 6.0 per game. Junior guard Natalie Knight has the third-best assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.5. Senior guard CeCe Harper has 82 assists on the year for 5.5 per game which is fifth among the Big 12. She is also third in the conference standings in steals per game with 2.2. Junior guard Asia Boyd is 15th in scoring in the Big 12 with 12.8 points per game.
