LAWRENCE, Kan. – With the nation’s top-winning percentage, an unblemished conference record and riding a six-game winning streak, the Kansas soccer team entered the top-10 of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Coaches’ poll Tuesday, checking in at No. 9. This week’s poll marks the first time Kansas has been ranked among the top-10 teams in the nation since Nov. 8, 2004.

Coming off its league-leading eighth shutout of the year, a 1-0 win at Texas on Friday night, Kansas jumped two spots to No. 9 after sitting inside the top-20 of the national ranks for the previous five weeks. Kansas is the highest ranked team in the Big 12, sitting seven spots ahead of West Virginia (No. 16) and 13 spots in front of Texas Tech (No. 22), both of which Kansas will welcome to Rock Chalk Park for matches this weekend.

KU will kick off against the 22nd-ranked Red Raiders in Lawrence on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. The No. 16 Mountaineers will then journey to Lawrence for the highly-anticipated matchup on Sunday, Oct. 19. The match, slated for 1 p.m., will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel and ESPN3.
