Kiawah Island, S.C. – For the second time this season, the Kansas Women’s Golf team will be traveling to South Carolina as the Jayhawks look to defend their title at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The tournament will be held at Turtle Point Golf Course on October 26-28.
 
The Jayhawks competed in Greensville, South Carolina, earlier this season at the Lady Paladin Invitational where they placed tied for fifth. Kansas will bring five competitors to the Palmetto Intercollegiate as they will be junior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn, sophomore Pornvipa Sakdee and seniors Minami Levonowich, Gabriella DiMarco and Michelle Woods.
 
This will be the sixth year in a row that the Jayhawks will compete in the Palmetto Intercollegiate. KU has finished in the top-10 every time. Last year, the Jayhawks won the tournament by three strokes shooting a three-round 876 (+12).
 
Kansas was able to get strong contributions last year from Sakdee, Kawinpakorn and Levonowich, the three returners from the lineup last year.  Sakdee finished tied for fourth last year with a score of 217 (+1) while Kawinpakorn placed tied for seventh with a three round score of 220 (+4) and Levonowich finished tied for 11th with an overall score of 222 (+6).
 
The Jayhawks will be competing in a 20-team field that will consist of Campbell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Eastern Michigan, Elon, Furman, Georgia State, GRU Augusta, James Madison, Jacksonville State, Kansas State, Maryland, South Florida, University of North Carolina (Greensboro), Western Carolina, and Xavier.
 
Turtle Point Golf Course is a par 72, 5,972-yard golf course that is known for its narrow fairways, small greens, and strategically placed water hazards. The tournament will be played throughout three days as they will tee off on Sunday, October 26th with the first 18 holes and the tournament will conclude October 28th with the final 18 holes.
