LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas women’s basketball stays on the road for a contest at No. 11 Oklahoma State on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Jayhawks (11-11, 4-6 Big 12) head south to Stillwater with winning momentum and look to even the 2013-14 series against OSU. The game be broadcast on the Cowby Sports Network and the Jayhawk Radio Network.

ABOUT THE JAYHAWKS
Kansas heads south for its second contest of the 2013-14 season against No. 11 Oklahoma State. The Jayhawks are shooting 42.6 percent from the field, which is the sixth-best percentage in the Big 12, and making 32 percent of shots from beyond the arc. Kansas is averaging 66.2 points per game, while allowing 65.7 points per game for a +0.5 scoring margin. KU averages 37.4 rebounds per contest and has outrebounded 14 opponents in 2013-14. The Jayhawks’ bench is scoring 18.4 points per game and reached the 20-point mark in 10 games this year.

Junior Chelsea Gardner reached the 800 career-point mark after scoring a career-high 34 points against Texas Tech (2/1). Gardner’s second 30+ scoring effort of the season earned her eighth double-double of the season and 13th of her career. Gardner scored double-digits the last seven games and is shooting 59.4 percent from the field, which is the second-best field goal percentage in the league and 13th in the nation. Gardner leads the team with 17 points and eight rebounds per game. Senior CeCe Harper was one assist shy of her second double-double after recording nine assists and 11 points against Texas Tech (2/1). Harper has knocked in double figures in seven of the last nine games and dished out seven or more assists in nine games. Junior Natalie Knight reached double-digits for the sixth-straight game after scoring 14 points at Texas Tech (2/1). She is shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc after making all three attempts against the Lady Raiders. She is averaging 9.4 points per game behind 41 percent shooting from the field. She also has the fourth-best assist-to-turnover ration in the conference at 2.5.

Newcomer Jada Brown scored a career-best 10 points at Texas (1/15) for her first double-figure scoring effort. The freshman forward has started eight games and appeared in 21, while averaging 1.8 points and 2.3 rebounds a contest on the year. Junior guard Asia Boyd is averaging double figures with 11.2 points per game and has registered double-digit scoring performances in two of the last three games. Boyd has scored double figures in 12 contests this season and recorded two double-doubles. She has appeared in every 2013-14 game, playing 27.1 minutes a contest and grabbing 5.0 boards per game, which is second-best on the squad. Senior guard Markisha Hawkins scored 10 points at Kansas State (1/25) for her third double-digit scoring effort of the year. She is averaging 4.6 points and 1.6 rebounds per game in 15 minutes a contest.

Freshman forward Caelynn Manning-Allen recorded two blocked shots against No. 8 Oklahoma State (1/22) and has the second-most on the team with 15. Manning-Allen scored a career-high six points against Texas (1/15) and grabbed a career-best 10 boards against Texas Tech (1/11). Freshman guard Dakota Gonzalez recorded 10 points in the first meeting against the ranked Cowgirls for her second double-figure scoring effort of the season. On the year, she is shooting 39.1 percent from the three-point line and averaging 4.1 points a contest. Freshman Keyla Morgan has two double-digit scoring efforts in her initial season with KU, the first against then-No. 2 Duke. She is averaging 5.2 points per game and shooting 47.1 percent (8-17) from behind the three-point line. Sophomore guard Lamaria Cole is averaging 3.1 points and 1.4 assists per game. Junior forward Bunny Williams is grabbing 2.1 boards per game, while shooting 69.2 (9-13) percent from the field. Freshman guard Dylan Gonzalez is averaging 1.1 points behind 55.6 (5-9) percent from the field.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
No. 11 Oklahoma State is third in the Big 12 standings with a 7-3 conference mark and overall record of 18-3. The Cowgirls are 11-2 inside Gallagher-Iba Arena and 3-2 at home during Big 12 action. OSU was upset by in-state rival Oklahoma in its last outing, 81-74. The Cowgirls have won six of their last eight games with losses coming to OU (2/1) and Baylor (1/26) in overtime. Oklahoma State is averaging 74 points per game behind 43.4 percent shooting from the field, while allowing only 55.5 points per game for a +18.5 scoring margin. OSU grabs 44.6 rebounds and 9.7 steals per contest. Senior Tiffany Bias leads the team with 14.7 points and also leads the Big 12 with 6.5 assists per contests. Sophomore Brittney Martin averages a team-high 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. Junior Liz Donohoe is averaging 11.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and has six double-doubles in 2013-14.

KANSAS VS. OKLAHOMA STATE: THE SERIES
Kansas owns a 31-28 advantage in the all-time series against Oklahoma State. The Cowgirls have won the last four meetings including a 64-56 win over KU earlier this season. Kansas is 5-10 under head coach Bonnie Henrickson and 13-11 in Stillwater. The Jayhawks’ longest winning streak over OSU was eight games from 1995-2000. KU’s last win over Oklahoma State was a 65-60 victory in 2012 in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

KANSAS FAST BREAKS

The Jayhawks are 0-1 this season against Oklahoma State, who has won four-straight games over Kansas. KU leads the overall series 31-28 and is 13-11 inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. Kansas’ last win over OSU was in Stillwater in 2012.

She made 6-of-7 attempts at TCU (1/8) and 3-of-3 at Texas Tech (2/1). Knight has the seventh best three-point percentage in KU women’s basketbtall history at 36.4 percent. Freshman Dakota Gonzalez and Keyla Morgan are also shooting over 35 percent from the three-point at 39.1 and 47.1 percent, respectively.

CHELSEA LATELY
Junior forward Chelsea Gardner has stepped up to the challenge of filling the scoring void left by graduating three 1,000 point scorers at the conclusion of the 2012-13 season. Gardner has scored in double figures in 19-of-22 games this season and is averaging 17.0 points per game. On the season, she is shooting 59.3 percent from the field, which is the second-best field goal percentage in the Big 12. She scored a career-high 34 points at Texas Tech on Feb. 1. Gardner has recorded eight double-doubles this year and 13 in her career. She has 807 career points and is on pace to reach 1,000 points by the end of her Jayhawk career. After grabbing 10 boards against K-State (1/25), Gardner became the 26th Jayhawk in program history to record 500 or more rebounds. She has 517 in her career.

A KNIGHT’S TALE
Junior Natalie Knight made her return to the hardwood on Oct. 30 in an exhibition contest against Pittsburg State after suffering a season-ending knee injury in 2012-13. The Olathe, Kan., native picked up where she left by being the most consistent Jayhawk on the court. The guard has the fourth-best assist-to-turnover ratio in the conference at 2.5. Knight is averaging a team-high 33.5 minutes per game and has turned the ball over just 28 times in 22 appearances. Knight is scoring 9.4 points per game and recorded double-digit points in 14 games. She scored a season-high 20 points behind a career-best six three-pointers on the road against TCU on Jan. 8.

Freshman Taylor McIntosh had a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Junior Kaylee Brown scored 15 points, while fellow junior Erica Hallman added 12 points in the victory.
