KU Women’s Golfers Finish Strong at the SALLY

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Kansas senior women’s golfers Gabriella DiMarco and Minami Levonowich posted solid final rounds and ended strong at the 89th Annual South Atlantic Women’s Amateur Championship, also known as the SALLY, at Oceanside Golf and Country Club Jan. 17.
 
DiMarco carded a 3-over 75 in her fourth and final round and moved up two spots, ending tied for 21st in the 51-golfer field. DiMarco’s 75 was the West Chester, Pennsylvania, native’s second lowest of four rounds as she scored a 311 (+23) with an 80-74-82-75. Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Florida, won the event with a four-round 286 (-2).
 
Levonowich also shot a 75 in her final round and moved up one spot to finish runner-up in the first flight, which would be 38th overall. The Houston native shot 87-82-74-75 for a 318 (+30).
 
Held the second week in January, the SALLY is a four-day event which draws some of the top U.S. amateurs.
 
DiMarco and Levonowich return to Lawrence, Kansas, and will begin the spring semester at the ALLSTATE Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, Feb. 22-24. In the fall, Kansas finished fifth or higher in all five fall events and placed runner-up in two tournaments. DiMarco averaged 76.7 strokes per 18 holes in the fall with one top-10 finish, while Levonowich posted a 76.8 average.
