Professional Football Round Up: Week 10

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With professional football in full swing at the conclusion of the 10th week of games in the National Football League Sunday, 12 Jayhawks continue making their mark at the game’s highest level. A weekly recap of how Kansas football players fared in the professional ranks of the National Football League and the Canadian Football League is below.
 
Jon Cornish – Calgary Stampeders (CFL)
Cornish sat out Calgary’s 35-9 victory over the B.C. Lions on Nov. 15, due to lingering concussion symptoms. With the win, Calgary advanced to the Western Final for the fourth-straight year. Cornish has rushed for 622 yards and four touchdowns after playing in nine games in 2015.
 
Chris Harris – Denver Broncos
Harris notched four tackles, including one stop behind the line-of-scrimmage in Denver’s, 29-13, loss against Kansas City on Nov. 15. On the year, Harris has 36 tackles and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a score.
 
Tanner Hawkinson – Philadelphia Eagles 
Hawkinson saw his first action of the season against the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 15, in which Philadelphia lost, 20-19, to Miami. Hawkinson was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles and signed from the San Francisco 49er’s practice squad on Oct. 13.
  
Ben Heeney – Oakland Raiders
Heeney saw time in the Raiders’ 30-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 15, but he did not record any statistics.  
 
Steven Johnson – Tennessee Titans 
Johnson wrapped up one tackle in Tennessee’s 27-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 15.  After being traded from Denver prior to the season starting, Johnson has made four tackles through nine games.
 
Dexter McDonald – Oakland Raiders
McDonald saw his only action of the season at Chicago on Oct. 4, but has not recorded any statistics in his rookie season. Oakland lost, 30-14, to the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 15.   
 
Bradley McDougald – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 
McDougald sealed a 10-6 victory for Tampa Bay over the Cowboys on Nov. 15 after intercepting Dallas’ game-winning pass in the end zone with 28 seconds remaining on the clock. Through nine games, McDougald has recorded 50 tackles – five of which were against the Cowboys on Nov. 15 – and two interceptions.  
 
Toben Opurum – New Orleans Saints
Opurum and the Saints lost, 47-14, to the Washington Redskins on Nov. 15. Opurum has played in one game in 2015 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13.
 
JaCorey Shepherd – Philadelphia Eagles 
Shepherd is sidelined on the Eagles injured reserve list after tearing his ACL in the preseason.
 
Kevin Short – Seattle Seahawks
Short is a member of Seattle’s practice squad. Seattle lost, 39-32, against the Arizona Cardinals on Nov. 15.
 
Darrell Stuckey – San Diego Chargers
Stuckey and the Chargers were off for the Nov. 15 slate of games. San Diego will resume play on Nov. 22 when it plays host to Kansas City. Stuckey has recorded five tackles and the first sack of his five-year career in week five at Pittsburgh.
 
Aqib Talib – Denver Broncos 
Talib served a one-game suspension in Denver’s 29-13 loss to Kansas City on Nov. 15.
