Professional Football Round Up: Week 11

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With professional football in full swing at the conclusion of the 11th week of games in the National Football League Sunday, 12 Jayhawks continue making their mark at the game’s highest level. A weekly recap of how Kansas football players fared in the professional ranks of the National Football League and the Canadian Football League is below.
 
Jon Cornish – Calgary Stampeders (CFL)
Cornish sat out Calgary’s 45-31 loss in the Western Final to Edmonton on Nov. 22, due to lingering concussion symptoms. Cornish finished the season rushing for 622 yards and four touchdowns after playing in nine games.
 
Chris Harris – Denver Broncos
Harris secured three tackles in Denver’s 17-15 win over Chicago on Nov. 22. For the year, Harris has accumulated 39 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.  
 
Tanner Hawkinson – Philadelphia Eagles 
Hawkinson and the Eagles lost, 45-17, to Tampa Bay on Nov. 22. Hawkinson was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles and signed from the San Francisco 49er’s practice squad on Oct. 13.
  
Ben Heeney – Oakland Raiders
Heeney turned in his best game as a pro after recording seven tackles, his first-career sack and a broken up pass in Oakland’s 18-13 loss to the Detroit Lions on Nov. 22. Heeney has made 10 tackles in his rookie season.   
 
Steven Johnson – Tennessee Titans 
Johnson saw time in Tennessee’s, 19-13, loss to Jacksonville on Nov. 22, but did not record any statistics. After being traded from Denver prior to the season starting, Johnson has made four tackles through 10 games.
 
Dexter McDonald – Oakland Raiders
McDonald saw his only action of the season at Chicago on Oct. 4, but has not recorded any statistics in his rookie season. Oakland lost, 18-13, to the Detroit Lions on Nov. 22.   
 
Bradley McDougald – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 
McDougald posted five tackles in Tampa Bay’s 45-17 win over Philadelphia on Nov. 22. Through 10 games, McDougald has recorded 55 tackles and two interceptions.  
 
Toben Opurum – New Orleans Saints
Opurum and the Saints were off for the Nov. 22 slate of games. New Orleans will resume action on Nov. 29 at Houston. Opurum has played in one game in 2015 against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13.
 
JaCorey Shepherd – Philadelphia Eagles 
Shepherd is sidelined on the Eagles injured reserve list after tearing his ACL in the preseason.
 
Kevin Short – New York Jets
Short is a member of the Jets’ practice squad. New York lost, 24-17, to the Houston Texans on Nov. 22. 
 
Darrell Stuckey – San Diego Chargers
Stuckey and the Chargers lost, 33-3, to AFC West foe Kansas City on Nov. 22. Stuckey saw action in the contest, but did not record any statistics. Stuckey has recorded five tackles and the first sack of his five-year career in week five at Pittsburgh.
 
Aqib Talib – Denver Broncos 
Talib made three tackles and broke up a pass in Denver’s, 17-15, win over Chicago on Nov. 22. Talib now has posted 23 tackles and three interceptions on the year.
