Professional Football Round Up: Week 12

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With professional football in full swing at the conclusion of the 12th week of games in the National Football League Sunday, 12 Jayhawks continue making their mark at the game’s highest level. A weekly recap of how Kansas football players fared in the professional ranks of the National Football League and the Canadian Football League is below.
 
Jon Cornish – Calgary Stampeders (CFL)
Cornish sat out Calgary’s 45-31 loss in the Western Final to Edmonton on Nov. 22, due to lingering concussion symptoms. Cornish finished the season rushing for 622 yards and four touchdowns after playing in nine games.
 
Chris Harris – Denver Broncos
Harris wrapped up two tackles in Denver’s 30-24 overtime victory over the New England Patriots on Nov. 29. Through 11 games Harris has posted 41 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble. Denver (9-2) is set to face the San Diego Chargers (3-8) on Dec. 6.
 
Tanner Hawkinson – Philadelphia Eagles 
Hawkinson did not see any action in Philadelphia’s 45-14 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Hawkinson has not seen any action in 2015 after being signed by the Eagles in mid-October.
  
Ben Heeney – Oakland Raiders
Heeney recorded one tackle in Oakland’s 24-21 win over Tennessee on Nov. 29. On the year, Heeney has posted 11 tackles and 1.0 sack in 10 games. Oakland (5-6) plays host to the Chiefs (6-5) on Nov. 6.
 
Steven Johnson – Tennessee Titans 
Johnson assisted on one tackle, but Tennessee lost, 24-21, to the Oakland Raiders on Nov. 29. Johnson has recorded five tackles in 11 games this season. Tennessee (2-9) will host Jacksonville (4-7) on Dec. 6.
 
Dexter McDonald – Oakland Raiders
McDonald saw game-action for the second time in 2015 in Oakland’s 24-21 win over Tennessee on Nov. 29, but did not record any statistics.   
 
Bradley McDougald – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 
McDougald made five tackles and broke up a pass in Tampa Bay’s loss, 25-12, to the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 29. McDougald has logged 61 tackles and two interceptions through 11 games. Tampa Bay (5-6) hosts the Atlanta Falcons (6-5) on Dec. 6.  
 
Toben Opurum – New Orleans Saints
Opurum saw his only action of the season against the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 13, but did not record any statistics.
 
JaCorey Shepherd – Philadelphia Eagles 
Shepherd is sidelined on the Eagles injured reserve list after tearing his ACL in the preseason.
 
Kevin Short – New York Jets
Short is a member of the Jets’ practice squad. New York won, 38-20, over the Miami Dolphins on Nov. 29.
 
Darrell Stuckey – San Diego Chargers
Stuckey saw action, but did not record any statistics in the Chargers’ win, 31-25, over Jacksonville on Nov. 29. Stuckey has made five tackles and recorded the first sack of his career in 10 games. San Diego (3-8) will host Denver (9-2) on Dec. 6.
 
Aqib Talib – Denver Broncos     
Talib recorded two tackles, while breaking up two passes in Denver’s overtime win, 30-24, over the New England Patriots on Nov. 29. Talib now has 27 tackles and three interceptions in 10 games this season. Denver (9-2) travels to San Diego (3-8) on Dec. 6.
