PALM DESERT, Calif. Behind redshirt freshman Brock Drogosch, the Kansas men’s golf team sits tied for 23rd after day one of the 2015 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club Golf Course in Palm Desert, California.
 
The Jayhawks got off to a rough start as they finished the first round with a team total 305 (+17). The leader of the event is 15th-ranked Texas Tech at 281 (-7), followed by Oregon at 285 (-3).
 
“We need to get some things corrected and make a lot of improvements in the next two days,” Kansas head coach Jamie Bermel said. “As head coach, it’s my responsibility to get the guys ready to play, evidently that did not happen.”
 
Drogosch led the team and is tied for 62nd, in the 128-gofler field, after day one with three birdies, shooting 75 (+3). Behind Drogosch was sophomore Chase Hanna, who had one birdie and shot 76 (+4). Junior Ben Welle and freshman Daniel Hudson finished their first rounds with each shooting 77 (+5). Welle carded two birdies on the day. Senior Logan Philley shot an 81 (+9) with two birdies. Junior Connor Peck, who played as an individual, shot 77 (+5) with one birdie on the day.
