Luduena and Cardona Named Academic All-Big 12 First Team Honorees

IRVING, Texas – Two members of the Kansas women’s tennis team were named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 First Team as announced by the conference Tuesday. Senior Maria Belen Luduena and sophomore Maria Jose Cardona were honored for achieving GPAs higher than 3.20.
 
This honor marks Luduena’s third Academic All-Big 12 award in a row, after being one of four Jayhawks to be honored last season. A native of Curicó, Chile, Luduena is majoring in economics with a minor in business. This season, Luduena touts a 14-13 mark in doubles and has gone 12-13 this season in singles play.
 
Cardona, a product of Santiago, Colombia, is majoring in illustration with a minor in business. The second-time honoree has gone 11-10 in doubles this season, primarily teaming up with Luduena.
 
Up next, the Jayhawks travel to Waco, Texas, to meet the Oklahoma State Cowgirls in the first round of the 2015 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championship. The match will take place at the Hurd Tennis Center at host Baylor, at 9 a.m., Friday, April 24.
