SAN ANTONIO – Kansas sophomore Pornvipa Sakdee and junior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn each garnered all-tournament honors at the 2015 Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship at the Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas, Sunday. Those who finished in the top 10 of the 45-golfer field were named to the all-tournament team.

Sakdee was the leader for the Jayhawks as she finished in fourth place with a 54-hole total of 216 (E). She entered the day tied for second in the tournament and carded her second-straight 74 (+2). Kawinpakorn, who is appearing on the league all-tournament team for the third consecutive year, shot a three-round 217 (+1), placing tied for fifth with three other golfers. Kawinpakorn shot a 75 (+3) in her final round on Sunday.

As a team, Kansas placed eighth in the nine-team field shooting a 304 (+16) Sunday and a three-round 906 (+42). Baylor won the team title with a three-round 867 (+3), 12 strokes ahead of runner-up TCU at 879 (+15).

Kansas senior Minami Levonowich placed tied for 40th after a third-round score of 76 (+4) and an overall score of 233 (+17). Jayhawk senior Gabriella DiMarco finished 44th with a final round score of 79 (+7) and a 54-hole total of 240 (+24), while freshman Pitsinee Winyarat ended in 45th with a total score of 252 (+36).

Oklahoma State’s Kenzie Neisen and Baylor’s Laura Lonardi tied for individual honors with a 4-under 212.

Even though KU didn’t have the strong finish it wanted, Jayhawk head coach Erin O’Neil is optimistic that the team’s season will continue.

“I don’t know that we are completely out of (NCAA) regionals yet.” O’Neil said. “There’s still a slight chance since there were some Big Ten schools that were ranked above us who didn’t play well at their championship. Mook (Kawinpakorn) will likely go as an individual.”

The Jayhawks will know Monday, April 27, if they will qualify for postseason play at an NCAA Regional that will take place May 7-9 at one of four locations. The Golf Channel will air the NCAA Women’s Golf Regional teams at 6 p.m. (Central) on April 27. The Jayhawks were an at-large NCAA Regional selection last year and advanced to the NCAA Championship.
