Jayhawks Compete Individually at Kansas City Shootout

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas women’s golf team sent three participants to compete at the Kansas City Shootout by Gary Crossley Ford in Kansas City, Missouri at the Shoal Creek Golf Club Monday.
 
Junior Mackenzie Thayer and freshmen Kallie Gonzales and Pitsinee Winyarat are competing as individuals in the three-round event with 36 holes on April 6 and 18 on April 7.
 
The leader for the Jayhawks was Gonzales who carded an 81 (+9) for round one and then improved by eight strokes for the second round with a score of 73 (+1). Gonzalez currently sits tied for 27th place in the 81-golfer field with a 36-hole total of 154 (+10).
 
Winyarat currently is tied for 48th after shooting a 79 (+7) for round one and an 80 (+8) for round two with a two-round score of 159 (+15). Thayer finished day one at 164 (+20) and is tied for 69th with a first round score of 80 (+8) and a second round score of 84 (+12).
 
The leader of the tournament is Avery George from Middle Tennessee as she leads by two strokes with a 54-hole score of 143 (-1). Middle Tennessee leads the tournament as a team by 16 strokes with an overall score of 584 (+8).
