Schneider Adds Lott to KU Roster for 2015-16

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas head women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider added depth to the Jayhawks’ frontcourt on Thursday morning after Chelsea Lott signed a Grant-In-Aid and will join KU for the 2015-16 season.

Lott, a 6-3 center, hails from Fort Bend Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas. A Greater Houston Area Girls Basketball All-Star participant, Lott earned Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) 6A All-Region honors along with first-team all-district accolades following her senior campaign. During her final season with the Hurricanes, Lott averaged 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.

“Chelsea will bring a long, athletic presence to our front line,” said Schneider. “She’s an outstanding rebounder and has the skill level to play in both the low and high post areas. She also has the potential to be an enforcer and paint protector on the defensive end. Chelsea has tremendous upside and we are excited to have her as an addition to our program.”

Lott, who will be a freshman in the fall, joins Kansas’ 2015 recruiting class that includes Jayde Christopher (Cleveland High School/Federal Way, Washington), Tyler Johnson (Leavenworth High School/ Leavenworth, Kansas), Kylee Kopatich (Olathe South High School/Olathe, Kansas) and Aisia Robertson (Bishop O’Dowd High School/Richmond, California).

The Jayhawks begin their 2015-16 campaign with Late Night in the Phog, which is hosted along with Kansas men’s basketball, on Friday, Oct. 9, inside Allen Fieldhouse.
