16 Jayhawks Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Lists
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced last week that 16 members of the 2015 Kansas men’s and women’s track & field teams were named to the All-Academic Honorees list. A total of 1,367 student-athletes representing over 200 institutions.
Ten KU women were named to the list, which included departing seniors Jaimie House and Lindsay Vollmer, each of whom maintained above a 3.25 GPA for the year. Each earned trips to the NCAA West Regional Preliminary by way of being ranked in the top-48 in the NCAA in their respective events.
Other women to earn the honor included juniors Rhavean King, Daina Levy, Hannah Richardson and Dasha Tsema, all of which earned the honor for the second-consecutive season. Joining the upperclassmen on the Academic list was sophomore Grace Pickell and freshmen Laura Taylor and Alexis Romero.
Six student-athletes on the men’s side also received honors. Senior runner Josh Munsch saw his name on the All-Academic list for the third time in his career. He was joined by fellow senior Jonathan Miller, who was honored for the second time in three years.
Rounding out the men’s list were first-time honorees, seniors Aaron Blevins and Austin Hoag and juniors Nick Maestretti and Jacob Morgan.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top-96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
