LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas rowing head coach Rob Catloth announced the fall and spring schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 season, including details about the annual season-opening Jayhawk Jamboree.

The Jayhawks christen the season with the third annual Jayhawk Jamboree on Oct. 18. The fan-friendly regatta is one of three races in the state of Kansas for the Jayhawks this season. The Jamboree has become a festive event not just for Kansas rowing, but the Lawrence community in recent history.

“The Jayhawk Jamboree has received great community response and we look forward to improving it every year,” Catloth said. “It is always awesome to see more people connect with the sport of rowing and visit our facility to discover how fun a regatta can be.”

The Jamboree will feature an assortment of food and drink vendors, live music, and appearances by the Kansas Spirit Squad. Races begin at 11:15 a.m., and last until 3:30 p.m. The event includes varsity teams from Tulsa, Kansas State, Creighton, and Iowa.

The Kansas Rowing Boathouse, KU’s home site for events in Lawrence, is located on the Kansas River. It is accessible from the entrance of Burcham Park at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Indiana Street in Lawrence.

Kansas rounds out its fall schedule at the Tulsa Fall Invitational on Nov. 6 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After winter break, the Jayhawks return to Tulsa for the first dual match competition of the season against the Golden Hurricanes on March 5. The Jayhawks will get a preview of the waters for the Big 12 Championships at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational hosted by Louisville, March 12-13, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

KU returns home to Lawrence and host Drake in a dual regatta on March 26 at the Kansas Rowing Boathouse.

The Jayhawks begin the month of April with the prestigious Knecht Cup, April 9-10, in West Windsor, New Jersey. Kansas then travels to Madison, Wisconsin, on April 23 for the Big 12 & Big Ten Double Dual featuring nationally-ranked Wisconsin, Iowa, and Oklahoma.

The annual Sunflower Showdown against in-state rival Kansas State will close out their regular season on April 30 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Postseason begins at the Big 12 Championships, set for May 14-15 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The NCAA Championships will be held in Gold River, California, May 29-31.
