STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State upset No. 3 Kansas on Tuesday night at Gallagher-Iba Arena, 86-67.

“Oklahoma State made timely shots – I don’t know how many times they scored with under 10 on the shot clock,” KU head coach Bill Self said after the game. “They had seven different guys make a 3-pointer. It was their night. We contributed to it, but what went wrong is they were far better than us tonight.”

Three Jayhawks scored in double figures, led by Frank Mason III’s 14 points, 13 of which were scored in the second half. Senior forward Perry Ellis passed Kansas legend Wilt Chamberlain on the all-time KU scoring list with 13 points. Sophomore guard Devonte’ Graham added 10 points with five assists and just one turnover.

Kansas (15-3, 4-2 Big 12) fell victim to 11 Oklahoma State 3-pointers, which ties a season-high for 3-pointers allowed in regulation. Oklahoma made 11 treys in regulation before three overtime periods in Allen Fieldhouse on Jan. 4.

The loss extends the Jayhawks’ woes in Stillwater to five defeats in the last seven games at Gallagher-Iba Arena. KU leads the series overall, 110-57.

Oklahoma State (10-8, 2-4) becomes just the 13th KU opponent to shoot 50 percent or better from the field in the last 310 KU games. The Pokes shot 50 percent (26-for-52) from the field, including 11-for-21 from 3-point range, and missed only missed three shots (23-for-26) at the free throw line.

OSU freshman guard Jawun Evans scored 22 points with eight assists and six rebounds to help end the Cowboys’ four-game losing skid.

The first half featured six ties and 12 lead changes before Oklahoma State went into halftime with a 43-38 lead. OSU’s Jeffry Carol and Evans made back-to-back 3-pointers in the final minute of the first half to erase KU’s 38-37 lead.

Ellis scored 11 of his 13 total points in the first half on 3-of-6 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 shooting at the free throw line.

Kansas opened the second half on a 5-2 run with quick buckets from Mason and Graham to draw within two points of the Cowboys, 45-43 with 18:03 remaining. But that would be the closest KU would get to regaining its lead for the remainder of the night as Oklahoma State pulled away with a double-digit scoring margin for most of the second half.

The Cowboys shot 9-for-10 at the free throw line in the last five minutes to close out the game and prompt the OSU fans to storm the court after the final buzzer.
