Smiles 6K Wide – The huge smiles on the faces of assistant coach Michael Whittlesey, who works with KU distance runners, and sophomore Sharon Lokedi reflected the joy they shared after Lokedi won the 6K cross country title at the Big 12 Championship at the Texas Tech Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday, October 29. The victory was the first individual title for the Kansas women’s program.

Mario Kart – Freshmen Callie Hicks and Andrea Willis led senior Grace Pickell and junior Laura Taylor through the Booth Family Hall of Athletics while playing Mario Kart. The track & field student-athletes took part in KU’s Crimson and Boo activities on Sunday, October 30.

Flippers – A wave of water arched up from the Robinson Natatorium pool and followed the legs of sophomore Libby Walker as she flip-turned during the 1,000-yard freestyle on the first day of a double dual against North Dakota and Missouri State on Friday, October 21.

Lap After Lap – Junior Nika Fellows stroked her way through the 20 lengths of the 500-yard freestyle in Robinson Natatorium during the final day of KU’s double dual against North Dakota and Missouri State on Saturday, October 22. The Jayhawks won both of the two-day duals.

Light of Foot – KU basketball player Mitch Lightfoot had to be light of foot to work his way through the crowd at Ladies Night Out in Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday, October 19. Lightfoot and other KU freshmen brought microphones to some of the 400 women asking Bill Self and the players questions during the evening of behind-the-scenes activities that raised money for breast cancer research through Jayhawks for a Cure.

Zooming Out – A zoom lens provided a unique aspect to the pre-game entrance of the soccer officials and a young fan ahead of KU’s Senior Night match against Iowa State on Friday, October 28. The Jayhawks won the match 1-0 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Big 12 Championship at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri. The Jayhawks will take on TCU at 5:30 p.m., on Wednesday, November 2.

Pumped – Senior Maggie Anderson pumped her fists as she raced to join her teammates in celebration after the No. 6 KU volleyball team defeated No. 2 Texas in five sets in the Horejsi Family Athletics Center on Saturday, October 30. The victory snapped a 25-match series losing streak to the Longhorns.

Big Men in Tight Spaces – The KU football strength & conditioning staff stretched a group of receivers in the tight confines of the visiting locker room before the Jayhawks took on the Sooners at Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday, October 29.

Time Alone – KU receiver Shakiem Barbel found a quiet spot outside the visitor’s locker room in Oklahoma’s Memorial Stadium to mentally prepare himself for the game against the Sooners on Saturday, October 29. The senior receiver caught three passes against OU.

Fingertips – When McKenzie Calvert was introduced before her first game as a Jayhawk, the redshirt sophomore casually tapped just her fingertips with senior Jada Brown. Calvert used those fingertips to help her score a game-high-tying 18 points in the exhibition victory over Fort Hays State on Sunday, October 30.
