IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference has announced its 2017 volleyball schedule, featuring reigning conference champion Kansas opening its league slate on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Kansas State.
Kansas’ first conference home match will be on Oct. 28 against Iowa State inside Horejsi Family Athletics Center, where KU is 28-2 the last two seasons, including a 10-match home winning streak against Big 12 opponents.
The double-round robin Big 12 schedule concludes on Saturday, Nov. 25 against West Virginia in Lawrence.
Big 12 volleyball teams will compete in a double-round robin schedule format, where nine Big 12 volleyball squads will face each conference opponent twice during the regular season. The Big 12 is currently the only “Power Five” conference in which each team faces its league opponents twice during the year—once at home and once on the road.
All of KU’s Big 12 matches are on a Wednesday or a Saturday. The Jayhawks’ bye dates will be Saturday, Oct. 14, Wednesday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Times and television appearances will be announced at a later date.
The Jayhawks are coming off their most successful season in conference play in 2016, finishing with a 15-1 record as the outright Big 12 Conference champions for the first time in program history.
