Koch and Rychagova advance to quarterfinals of 2016 ITA National Collegiate Summer Circuit

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released the updated draws heading into the quarterfinals of the men’s and women’s singles at the 2016 ITA National Collegiate Summer Circuit, which commenced Saturday on the Indiana University campus. Sunday’s action was split between the Indiana University tennis facilities and the UIndy Tennis Center at the University of Indianapolis with Jayhawk sophomores Janet Koch and Anastasia Rychagova advancing to the quarterfinals.
 
Koch, who was playing through the bottom half of the singles draw as the No. 9 seed, made her way to the quarterfinals by blanking Melissa Pick of Wisconsin, 8-0, in the second round after Koch received a first-round bye. Koch then topped Anastasia Reimchen of Iowa, 8-5, in the third round. The Durbanville, South Africa, native then mounted a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9) come-from-behind victory over No. 6 seed, Zoe Katz of USC, in the fourth round, setting her up for her Monday quarterfinal match against Alexandra Valentstein of Texas Tech.
 
Rychagova played through the top half of the singles draw as the No. 8 seed and also received an opening round bye. She then bested Zoe Park of Carleton, 8-2 to advance to the third round where she blanked Indiana’s Madison Appel, 8-0. Rychagova topped Madeline Lipp of Northwestern, the No. 8 seed, 6-4, 6-1, to make her way into Monday’s quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Jose Kuhlman of Florida.
 
Senior Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum also was in action in Indiana, picking up three wins, before falling in the fourth round to the No. 2 seed, Rasheeda McAdoo of Georgia Tech, 6-1, 6-1. Bernard-Feigenbaum started her day with an 8-1 victory over Karyna Bihel of Minnesota in the first round. She then bested the No. 9 seed, Madison Westby of USC, 8-2 in the second round, before defeating Denise Azcui of Western Michigan, 8-2, in the third round, setting up her match with McAdoo.
 
Both Koch and Rychagova will play their singles quarterfinal matches at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the UIndy Tennis Center. All singles matches are expected to begin at 10:30 a.m., and the doubles tournament will commence at 12:00 p.m. Rychagova and Bernard-Feigenbaum will team up in doubles play, with their first match coming at 3 p.m.
