LAWRENCE, Kan. – Two weeks away from the season opener against Rhode Island, Kansas football fans were treated to their first opportunity to see the 2016 Jayhawks in action at Fan Appreciation Day Saturday morning inside Memorial Stadium.

The Jayhawks treated those in attendance to an accuracy challenge at the end of the two-hour practice in helmets and shoulder pads. Individuals were invited down onto Kivisto Field to throw footballs into a target simulating a touchdown toss. The day ended with the team interacting and signing autographs around the perimeter of the field.

During the practice, Kansas went through several special teams periods that included onside kickoffs and recovery, hurry-up field goals and long field goal returns. Sprinkled around the special teams work, the Jayhawks emphasized technique during individual sessions and ball security on both sides of the football.

Fan Appreciation Day officially ended Fall Camp, and the Jayhawks now turn their focus to game No. 1 of the regular-season against Rhode Island Saturday, September 3 inside Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.
