Kawinpakorn rebounds in second round at ‘Q-School’

Round 1 Results | Round 2 Results | Round 3 Pairings

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas product Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn countered her 3-over-par round one effort with a 2-under, 70 during the second round of LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying School Stage 1 on Friday at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.

After playing the Dinah Shore Course Thursday, Kawinpakorn’s second day was spent on the Arnold Palmer Course. At 6,524 total yards, Kawinpakorn pocketed five birdies, including three on the front nine, and sits at 1-over after 36 holes, tied for 62nd.

“I hit the way I wanted (to) and putt so much better,” Kawinpakorn said. “I had more birdies and less mistakes, which is good. I committed to every shot and I saw the shot. I hit some bad shots, but nothing to (hurt my) scores. But overall it was good.  I was focused and I did the job today.”

Day three begins at 2:35 p.m. CT for Kawinpakorn at the first tee of the Gary Player Course, the shortest of the three courses at Mission Hills. At the completion of the round there will be a cut, as the top 130 and ties will play the final round on Sunday.

The low 90 and ties after four rounds will advance to Stage II of LPGA Qualifying Tournament the week of October 17-23 in Venice, Florida. All players who complete 54 holes will receive Symetra Tour status for 2017.
