LAWRENCE, Kan. – August is here and that signifies the beginning of football season as Kansas football players reported for 2016 fall camp Wednesday. Second-year head coach David Beaty welcomed 105 KU players to Lawrence as the Jayhawks prepare for the season.

After checking in for fall camp, the Jayhawks went through some informational meetings followed by a team building activity at Royal Crest Lanes as the KU players and staff were divided up on bowling teams. Throughout fall camp, Kansas football will have several guest speakers address the players and Wednesday started off with a familiar face as Jayhawk men’s basketball coach, Bill Self, met with the group following dinner.

KU will open practice Thursday, Aug. 4 and will hold its first full-pad practice on Monday, Aug. 8. The Jayhawks will go through their first two-a-day practice on Tuesday, Aug. 9. All practices are closed to the public with the exception of Fan Appreciation Day, which will be held in Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Jayhawk fans are invited to spend the morning and early afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 20 with the Kansas football program as it hosts Fan Appreciation Day. Gates on the west side of the stadium will open at 9:30 a.m., with the practice slated to begin at 10 a.m. Beaty and the Jayhawk players will sign autographs for one hour (approximately 12:15 p.m.) following the conclusion of practice. Team members will be set up at tables by position group along the outside of the football field.

KU football posters and other promotional items will be available at Memorial Stadium, along with rosters and schedule cards. In addition, the Hy-Vee Hawk Zone, full of inflatable games for children, will be open from 8:30-10:30 p.m., at the KU football practice fields located adjacent to Memorial Stadium on the southeast corner. Rally House at Memorial Stadium will be open with a wide selection of new Kansas Jayhawks merchandise. The same rules apply for Fan Appreciation Day as regular season games: no cans, bottles, coolers or video cameras are allowed into the stadium. Admission to Fan Appreciation Day and parking for the event are both free.

Single game tickets for the 2016 Kansas football season are now available for purchase. The Jayhawks will play six home games at Memorial Stadium this fall beginning with their Sept. 3 season-opener against Rhode Island.

The Jayhawks will welcome Ohio to Lawrence in their second home contest of the season on Saturday, Sept. 10. Kansas will also host TCU (Oct. 8), Oklahoma State (Oct. 22/Homecoming, K-Club Weekend), Iowa State (Nov. 12) and Texas (Nov. 19) at Memorial Stadium during the 2016 campaign.

In addition to single game tickets, Kansas Athletics is offering a new Pick 2 Flex Pack ticket package for Jayhawk football games for the 2016 season. As part of the Pick 2 Flex Pack ticket option, fans can choose any two of KU’s six home games, with Pick 2 Flex Pack plans ranging in price from $105-$120.

Season tickets for the six-game home schedule are on sale for as low as $115. The Family Season Ticket Plan, which includes two youth and two adult general admission tickets, is $400.
