There was no separating sophomores Haley Bishop and Libby Walker as both touched the finish pad with a time of 1:05:48.32 to share the inaugural CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championship individual title. Kansas made it a clean sweep at the top three spots to claim team honors also.

- Saturday’s CSCAA competition was the first collegiate open water championship sanctioned by a swimming governing body. Twelve institutions were represented by 68 swimmers participating in this Olympic sport’s foray into college athletics.
- Freshman Jenny Nusbaum introduced herself to Jayhawk fans, and open water swimming, with her third-place finish less than a second behind her champion teammates to clinch a Kansas sweep of the top three spots.
- Kansas claimed the women’s team title with a combined three-swimmer time of 3:17:20.99, edging out Rice University.
- Sophomore Breonna Barker earned a top-eight medal with her swim of 1:07:33.22.
- With her time of 1:11:27.78, sophomore Cassaundra Pino secured a top-20 finish.
- Stanislas Racynzski of Emmanuel College (Georgia) won the men’s title with a swim of 1:01:06.43. .
- The University of Cincinnati captured the men’s team title over Carson-Newman University with a total time of 3:09:29.
