Rychagova opens spring season ranked No. 65 nationally

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released the updated Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Women’s Division I National Rankings Wednesday and Kansas sophomore Anastasia Rychagova earned a No. 65 singles ranking entering the 2017 spring campaign.

During the fall season, Rychagova paced the Jayhawks with an 11-4 singles mark, including a 3-1 record against ranked players.

New to this season, the ITA implemented computerized rankings for both singles and doubles.

In 2016, Rychagova was the conference coaches’ unanimous selection for Big 12 Freshman of the Year and also earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and Big 12 All-Freshman Team honors. She also became the first Jayhawk in the history of the program to pick up Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors and is the first KU player since Magdalena Tocarcyzk did so in 2008 to be tabbed an All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Rychagova was instrumental in leading Kansas to its first NCAA Championship appearance in 17 years and was also honored by the ITA as the 2016 Central Region Freshman of the Year.
