The weekly honor marks the second of Lokedi’s career and the first since October 6, 2015. The award comes to Lokedi after she placed eighth at the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky on October 14.

Although last weekend’s meet was Lokedi’s first race of the season, she looked to be in mid-season form and improved her place at Pre-Nationals by two spots from last season and shaved 25.4 seconds off her 2016 Pre-National time. Competing against runners who have been mentioned as favorites to win the 2017 National Championship, Lokedi proved her name should also be considered in those talks.

The Jayhawks are back in action on October 28 at the 2017 Big 12 Championship, where Lokedi will look to repeat as the Big 12 women’s individual champion. The conference meet will be held at Old Settlers park in Round Rock, Texas, with the men’s race starting the action at 9 a.m. CDT, with the women following at 10 a.m.
