LAWRENCE, Kan. –  Over 100 days removed from the final game of the 2016 season, Kansas football officially turned the page to 2017 with its first of 15 spring workouts Monday afternoon.

The Jayhawks welcomed a hoard of newcomers, and seasoned veterans, wearing only helmets for a two-hour practice. Head coach David Beaty and his staff emphasized ‘flying around’ the turf fields inside Anschutz Pavilion as the team sprinted through a multitude of individual, 7-on-7 and full-team situations.

“It was great to be back on the field with our guys,” Beaty said. “I was proud of our energy and I thought our spirit was good today. Our procedure was good and we had a little adversity with the change in location, but we handled that well too.”

Watch what Beaty had to say about Kansas football’s first spring practice below:

Kansas will conduct 15-total practices as part of its spring schedule, highlighted by the annual Spring Game on April 15 inside Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m.
