STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Sharon Lokedi claimed her third school record as she ran to a runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters at the Cardinal Classic.

A four-time All-American on the track and the cross country trails, Lokedi inserted her name into the school record book for the third time with a career-best run in the 5,000 meters. She completed the 3.1-mile race in 16:00.60 to top Natalie Becker’s three-year-old record by over 20 seconds. Lokedi now owns the school’s fastest times in both the indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters as well as the outdoor 10,000 meters.

The Eldoret, Kenya native has now tallied two times that have her ranked among the NCAA’s elite this season, with both times posted on Stanford’s Cobb Track. Her 5K mark on Friday has her inside the top-30 of the latest NCAA standings, while her lone 10,000-meter time of 2017 ranks ninth among DI collegians this season.
