Pair of Jayhawks earn NFCA All-Region honors

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas juniors Harli Ridling and Erin McGinley collected postseason accolades after being named 2017 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honorees, as announced Thursday.   
 
McGinley’s second-team nod is the second All-Region honor for the Prairie Village, Kansas native. In addition to her first NFCA All-Region honor, Ridling earned in her first career All-Big 12 selection at the conclusion of the 2017 regular season.
 
McGinley started all 52 games in centerfield and led the squad with .337 batting average. She finished 2017 second on the team with nine doubles and also recorded five home runs and 22 RBIs. McGinley led the team with 19 stolen bases, which was the fifth-best mark in the Big 12 Conference.
 
Ridling, a product of Sentinel, Oklahoma, started 49 games for the Jayhawks during her junior campaign. She recorded a .326 clip, good for the second-best batting average among KU’s starters. Ridling led the squad with 11 home runs, while also registering seven doubles and 37 RBIs. Defensively, Ridling caught 21-of-46 runners attempting to steal a base.
