Hanna adds PING All-America to his résumé

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas golfer Chase Hanna added another honor to his storied Jayhawk career Thursday, after being named to the honorable mention PING All-America Team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

Hanna, one of the 62 NCAA Division I golfers recognized on the PING All-America Teams, became the first Jayhawk golfer to receive all-America honors since Kris Marshall earned back-to-back accolades in 2002 and 2003.

“This is awesome news and a most-deserving award for Chase,” head coach Jamie Bermel said. “He had a great career at KU, both on and off the golf course.”

Hanna, a 2017 All-Big 12 selection after winning the 2017 Big 12 Championship, led the team to its second-straight NCAA Regional appearance. During his career, Hanna earned two wins, four top-5 finishes, six top-10 finishes, and 10 top-20 finishes, marking a career high top-20 finishes in a single season. With a 10-under-par 61 at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in November 2016, Hanna set the school record and was one stroke from tying the lowest score in NCAA history.

Hanna also received a Big 12 academic award for his fourth-straight season, including three-straight seasons as Academic All-Big 12 First Team.
