Kansas Athletics hosts Midwest Compliance Summit

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas Athletics, more specifically senior associate athletics director—compliance and student services, David Reed, and the Jayhawk compliance staff hosted the Midwest Compliance Summit July 17-18 on the KU campus.

“Dr. (Sheahon) Zenger and I wanted to put on a program for Division 1 institutions in Kansas and our neighboring states to receive intense exposure to the NCAA staff, conference constituents and esteemed consultants that were invited. I was ecstatic to have over 60 Compliance professionals, including several Kansas alums, visit our campus for this two-day event.”

Zenger, KU’s Athletics Director, welcomed a large group of compliance staffs from colleges and universities in Hadl Auditorium Monday afternoon. Also addressing the group of attendees from the Jayhawk contingent was Kansas’ faculty athletics representative, Susan Williams and Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Compliance, Jeff Chasen, in addition to Reed.

In addition to KU’s compliance staff serving as the hosts of the two-day event, several representatives from the NCAA and various conference offices were on hand to lead educational meetings and breakout sessions on today’s essential issues within the compliance community.

At the completion of the summit, compliance staffs from both Wichita State and Kansas State were able to sit down with the KU staff to discuss topics that are pertinent to the three Division I schools in the state.
