Jayhawks continue to advance at the ITA National Summer Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas – Kansas junior Anastasia Rychagova and sophomore Tatiana Nikolaeva each claimed two singles wins to advance in bracket play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Summer Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, hosted by TCU.
 
In her first match of the tournament, No. 2 seeded Anastasia Rychagova defeated Jeanette Mireles, 6-3, 6-2. Later in the day, Rychagova downed the No. 34 seed, Amanda Rebol, 6-0, 6-1.
 
No. 45 Tatiana Nikolaeva began the day with a default win over No. 20 Carolyn Campana. The sophomore then faced Meredith Roberts and came out on top, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
 
The No. 4 seeded Kansas doubles team of Janet Koch and Rychagova beat the No. 13 seeded duo of Meredith Roberts and Elizabeth Tedford, 8-6. In singles, No. 35 seed Koch was not able to top Ellyse Hamlin, the No. 30 seed, and dropped her match, 3-6, 7-5, 10-2.
 
Monday at 8 a.m., Nikolaeva will play No. 4 seed Lauren Proctor, while Rychagova faces No. 15 seed Donika Bashota, and Koch and Rychagova will see the No. 5 seeded doubles team of Hamlin and Kaitlyn McCarthy at 3:30 p.m.
