#KUFallCamp Day 20: Fan Day
Beginning in August 2017, fans will be allowed to bring only one clear plastic bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches or a one-gallon, clear, resealable plastic storage bag per person inside Kansas athletics events.
Fans will also be allowed a small clutch purse not to exceed 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches.
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football held an open practice inside Memorial Stadium on Saturday for Fan Day/Selfie Saturday, giving fans a first look at the Jayhawks prior to the Sept. 2 season opener against Southeast Missouri State.
The team ran through drills as normal, but seeing fans in the stands gave the players an extra bounce in their step. Head coach David Beaty gave the fans something they will likely never see again to end the open practice – a one-on-one receiver versus defensive back drill, but using offensive linemen against defensive lineman as the skill players.
Defensive live head coach Jesse Williams picked the three D-linemen he though could best play defensive back and offensive line coach Zach Yenser chose his three best-suited offensive linemen to play wide out. The winner in the best-of-three contest got to watch the losing team do 10 up-downs.
In the first matchup, junior O-lineman Jacob Bragg went up against senior Kellen Ash. Ash let his man go free, but was bailed out on a dropped pass by Bragg.
The second head-to-head battle pitted junior Charles Baldwin against junior D-lineman Kellen Ash. A perfect route from Baldwin left an easy pass for junior quarterback Peyton Bender, with Baldwin hauling it in in the end zone for the score before getting mobbed by his offensive teammates.
With the competition tied at one, freshman O-lineman Earl Bostick ran a perfect corner route to burn freshman defensive end Vaughn Taylor Jr., giving the offensive side the victory in the contest.
Following practice, players and coaches lined Kivisto Field to sign autographs for all of the fans that came out to support.
SCHOLARSHIP SURPRISE
The Jayhawks traveled to Kauffman Stadium for KU Night at the K on Friday night and junior defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. threw out the first pitch prior to the game. Despite a 10-1 loss for the Royals, a highlight came in the middle of the fifth inning, as KU players got a surprise they’ll surely never forget. Senior punter Cole Moos, junior running back Reese Randall, sophomore defensive end Mazin Aql and sophomore offensive lineman Beau Lawrence looked up at the Royals’ Crown Vision to see their names and a congratulatory note saying they had all received football scholarships.

KU KICKOFF AT CORINTH SQUARE
Friday, August 25th at 6 p.m., Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger, head coach David Beaty and KU Alumni Association’s Heath Peterson will address Kansas fans at the 12th annual KU Kickoff at Corinth Square. The celebration will feature food, music, the opportunity to win tickets and more.
