Rychagova advances to the singles main draw at Lubbock $25K

LUBBOCK, Texas – Kansas junior Anastasia Rychagova earned a spot in the Lubbock $25K singles main draw after downing Livia Kraus, 6-1, 6-0, Monday at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas.

After cruising through three rounds of prequalifying play, Rychagova is set to face No. 7 seed Chieh-Yu Hsu at 12 p.m., CT Tuesday in the first round of the main draw.

“I’m just so grateful for this opportunity,” said Rychagova. “I didn’t expect to play this well in the tournament and it makes me happy to see how all of my, and the coaches’, work is paying off.”

Also competing in doubles this week, Rychagova and partner Alexandra Valenstein defeated Rasheeda McAdoo and Nikita Uberoi, 4-6, 7-6 (2), 10-6. With three first round matches being played Tuesday, the duo will have to wait a day before finding out who they will play in the quarterfinal.
