Kansas soccer saw an impressive streak come to an end earlier this week that it has been amassing for nearly five years now. The Jayhawks fell victim to an opposing team’s come-from-behind victory for the first time since the 2012 season when the BYU Cougars upended KU, 3-2, Monday afternoon in Provo, Utah.

Prior to that match, the Jayhawks were on the losing end only once in contests which they put in the match’s first goal since the start of the 2012 campaign. Kansas had amassed a record of 55-1-6 in those games, which included a stretch of 51-consecutive unbeaten matches when it had scored first.

On Monday against the Cougars, Kansas scored in the third minute of the match on Eva Eliasdottir’s 25-yard strike to take the early 1-0 lead. However, BYU responded with three unanswered goals over the next 60 minutes of game action to hand Kansas a deficit it could not overcome.

KU will look to begin a new streak when it kicks off Big 12 Conference play this weekend with a two-game Lone Star State stint versus TCU and Texas Tech. The Jayhawks were picked to finish second in the Big 12 by the league’s coaches in the preseason poll.
