Kawinpakorn posts top-5 finish at Guardian Championship

PRATTVILLE, Ala. – Former Kansas women’s golfer Yupaporn “Mook” Kawinpakorn secured a top-5 finish in the inaugural Guardian Championship at the Capitol Hill Golf Club as part of the Symetra Tour Sunday with a 4-under 68 over her final round.

Kawinpakorn jumped out to a fast start by birdieing two of her first three holes Sunday. Not slowed by a bogey on No. 7, Kawinpakorn finished the front nine with back-to-back birdies.

The Jayhawk All-American carded three-straight pars to open up the back nine before birdieing the par-3 No. 13. After bogeying No. 16, Kawinpakorn once again responded immediately and scored a birdie on No. 17. Shooting 4-under Sunday allowed Kawinpakorn to jump three spots into the top-5.

Kawinpakorn opened the event Friday with a par 72 and fired a 5-under 67 during the second round.  In total, Kawinpakorn finished with a 207, which was only three strokes off the leader, which was won by Lindsey Weaver.
