Freshman Honour Finley set a meet record in the women’s 400-meter dash Saturday at the Sunflower Triangular in her first time running the event as a collegiate athlete. Finley clocked in at 55.49 seconds to earn the win and the meet record, which places her 15th in the nation and first in the Big 12 this season.

  

 

NICOLE MONTGOMERY

For the third time in as many years, junior Nicole Montgomery won the 600-yard run Saturday at the Sunflower Triangular, setting a meet record with a time of 1:20.62. Montgomery went into the weekend as the nation’s leader in the event and retained that title with her time, which was the fifth-fastest mark in Kansas women’s indoor history.

  

 

 

BARDEN ADAMS

Senior Barden Adams set a meet record Saturday at the Sunflower Triangular in the men’s triple jump by tying a career-best 16.01 meters (52-6.25 ft.) to earn the best mark in the NCAA this season. His mark ranks eighth-best in Kansas men’s indoor history. Adams also won the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.39 meters (24-3 ft.), which ranks second in the Big 12.

  

 

MALIK NEWMAN

Sophomore Malik Newman paced No. 12 Kansas to a pair of victories last week.  In Tuesday’s 83-78 win over Iowa State, Newman poured in a career-best 27 points. In Saturday’s 73-72 victory over Kansas State, Newman only scored seven points, but four of those came in the game’s final 2:22, including his made free throws with just 15 seconds left on the game clock. In total, Newman shot 12-for-27 from the field, including 6-for-16 on threes. He also added 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
