
King Breaks 54-Hole School Record; Jayhawks Finish in 7th in Hawaii

MAUI, Hawaii – Kansas senior golfer Will King rewrote the history books for the Kansas men's golf team at the Ka'anapali Classic, carding a final score of 199 (-14), which is the new lowest 54-hole total in program history. Kansas finished the tournament with scores of 281-269-275 (-27) and concluded its fall season with a seventh-place finish, while King finished tied for fifth place individually.Â
Oklahoma led the way with a score of 789 (-63), followed by TCU (-51), Georgia (-47), FGCU (-40), and Colorado (-37) to round out the top five.
"Will King had a nice tournament this week with a top five finish. For the team, it was a pretty solid fall, but I think we can play better in the spring," Kansas coach Jamie Bermel said after the event.
King tallied a team-high fourteen birdies and one eagle, while recording two bogey-free rounds throughout the tournament. He finished with scores of 68-65-66 (-13) to tie for fifth place in the field. This marks King's third top 10 finish of the season, and the 11th of his career. With his 54-hole total of 199 (-14), King passed former Jayhawks Chase Hanna, Callum Bruce, and former teammate Cecil Belisle for the lowest 54-hole total in program history.
Junior Will Baker carded rounds of 67-66-75 (-5), while tallying 11 birdies and one eagle throughout the tournament and tied for 37th place individually.
Freshman Arthur Carlier put together back-to-back rounds under par in Hawaii, finishing the tournament with scores of 74-70-66 (-3) and finished tied for 50th place.Â
Sophomore Hartej Grewal finished the tournament tallying 11Â birdies and one eagle, while finishing with scores of 73-68-70 (-2) and tied for 57th place. Â
Senior Luke Honner carded scores of 73-72-73 (+5) and tied for 95th place individually.Â
Sophomore Ty Lasley competed as an individual throughout the tournament and tallied 13 birdies with one eagle. Lasley finished with scores of 68-66-72 (-7) and tied for 29th place individually.
