HELPING HAWKS
The Helping Hawks program was implemented twelve years ago. In this program, interested student-athletes are placed in either an elementary school or a junior high school for a maximum of ten hours a week for the purpose of offering assistance to the classroom teachers. For the 2008-2009 school year, eight student-athletes were placed in four elementary schools and one junior high school, and these students were able to provide valuable assistance to their assigned classroom teachers. The children benefited from the interaction with the student-athletes and the students benefited from the experience of working with the children. |
