Really came on the scene as he worked himself into the starting lineup the second half of his freshman season… Earned many postseason accolades following his freshman campaign and should contend for league and national honors as a sophomore… A versatile player who creates mismatches at the No. 4 spot… A crowd pleaser with his highlight dunks.

Freshman Season (2005-06)
All-Big 12 Honorable Mention (coaches and Associated Press) selection who was KU[apos]s fourth leading scorer at 8.5 points per game… Was second on the team with 42 blocked shots and his 1.27 per game ranked eighth in the Big 12… Member of the Big 12 All-Rookie Team who led KU in scoring six times and rebounding seven times… Named Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Feb. 27… Named to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship All-Tournament team where he averaged 9.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 54.2 percent (13-for-24) from the field… Led KU in field goal percentage at 56.4 percent earning the Dick Harp Field Goal Percentage Award (co- with Sasha Kaun, 56.2)… Was named the co-Clyde Lovellette Most Improved Player Award with Mario Chalmers… Went 4-for-5, scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds against Bradley in the NCAA Tournament… Against Texas in the Big 12 Championship finals, scored 12 points with seven boards, four assists, three steals and two blocks… Scored four points and grabbed six rebounds at Kansas State (March 4)… Totaled seven points, three rebounds and two assists against Colorado (March 1)… Scored 18 points in 29 minutes at Texas… Had career highs in points (20) and field goals (10) against Baylor… Totaled eight points, six rebounds, two blocks and two assists against Missouri (Feb. 18)… Had a career-high nine rebounds to go with 13 points and four assists against Iowa State (Feb. 11)… Totaled eight points, five rebounds and two assists at Nebraska (Feb. 8)… Totaled eight rebounds and seven free throws and tied a career high in blocks (four) at Iowa State (Jan. 28)… Played 16 minutes off the bench against Kentucky, where he had six points, five rebounds and three assists… Tied a career high in blocks (four) against New Orleans… Tied for the team high with 13 points (6-of-9 FGs) against Northern Colorado… Scored in double figures for the first time in his career with 10 points against Chaminade in the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational… Began his KU career scoring nine points with five rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots against Idaho State… Dubbed Preseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year by the league coaches.

McDonald[apos]s All-American, first team all-state and was named to the USA Junior National Select Team following his senior season… Averaged 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists his senior campaign at Homewood-Flossmoor High School… Homewood-Flossmoor handed eventual USA Today national champion Oak Hill (Va.)
