2013 Redshirt Senior Season
Started 16 matches and saw action in 27 total on the year… Her 228 kills were good for fifth-best on the team, while her kills per set ratio of 2.59 came in fourth on the team… Finished the year with 38 digs and 36 blocks from her outside hitter position… Hit for more than 10 kills in 10 matches over the course of the year… Started three-match streak 10 or more kills per match after crushing 14 kills at Arizona (8/31)… Put up 12 kills, four digs and seven blocks in KU’s win at Kansas City (9/3)… Followed that up with a career-high 19 kills at Arkansas (9/5)… Nearly bested her career-high of 19 kills with an 18-kill, six-dig match at West Virginia (10/19)… Against Iowa State she accounted for 15 kills and a then-season best .342 hitting percentage (10/23)… Hit for a career-high .429 attack percentage against Baylor (10/30)… Turned in a 16 kills .414 attack percentage day against TCU (11/2)… Had 14 crucial kills to help KU defeat Kansas State (11/16)… Recorded double-digit kills in consecutive matches with 14 against Oklahoma (11/30) and 11 big kills to help KU advance past Wichita State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament (12/6).

2012: Redshirt Junior Season
Started 10 matches and appeared in all but one at outside hitter for the Jayhawks… Ended the season third on the team in kills (297) and blocks (75)… Posted 14 double-digit kill performances… Hit .417 with six kills on 12 swings in the season opener against Northwestern State (8/24)… Chalked up her first double-digit kill effort at Arkansas (8/25) with 14 to go along with a career-high six digs… Helped lead Kansas past RV Tulsa with 16 kills (8/31)… Connected on 11 kills and three blocks in a win over Arizona State (9/7)… Caught fire at the start of Big 12 play, churning out five-straight double-digit kill efforts… Led KU in kills for the first time in her career with 15 at West Virginia (10/3)… Paced the offense in stellar back-to-back performances at RV Oklahoma (10/10) with a career-high 18 kills, including five in fifth set, and again at No. 9 Texas with a team-high 16 kills (10/12)… In the Jayhawks’ next match, Carmichael registered a career-high eight blocks and nine kills to guide KU past No. 14 Kansas State (10/17)… Played even better against the Wildcats in her hometown of Manhattan, where she collected 14 kills in the Jayhawks’ win over No. 16 Kansas State (11/7)… Came up clutch in the postseason, tallying 11 kills in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Cleveland State (11/30) and 13 in the Jayhawks’ loss to Wichita State in the second round (12/1).

2011: Redshirt Sophomore Season
Started once and appeared in 14 matches at outside hitter for the Jayhawks… Finished the season with 37 kills and eight digs… Recorded eight kills with a .316 hitting percentage against San Diego State (9/16)… Had four kills with a .333 hitting percentage against DePaul (9/17)… Made her only start of the season and put up a career-high 10 kills at Baylor (10/1).

2010: Redshirt Freshman Season
Moved from middle blocker to the outside in 2010… Made four appearances, all in non-conference action.

2009: Freshman Season
Utilized a redshirt during the 2009 season.

High School
An All-Centennial League volleyball selection out of Manhattan High School… Named her school[apos]s junior class female athlete of the year in 2007-08… Played club volleyball for the Topeka Elite under Rose Wittman… Also a two-time all-state selection in basketball for the Indians.

Personal
Daughter of Janelle and Dan Russell… Has three brothers, Jackie, Jamison and Christian… Older brother, Jackie, is a starter on the men[apos]s basketball team at Illinois State and was named to the MVC All-Freshman Team after the 2009-10 season… Mother was a four-year letterwinner in basketball at Bemidji State University… Majoring in African and African-American Studies.
