OVERVIEW
Joined the KU team as an invited walk-on as a junior prior to the 2016-17 season … Participated in walk-on tryouts his freshman year … Spent his sophomore year as a Kansas women’s basketball practice player.

2016-17 (JUNIOR)
• Played in 11 games, including KU’s first three games of the NCAA Tournament.
• Averaged 1.5 minutes per contest for the season.
• Played a career-high three minutes twice: vs. Long Beach State (Nov. 29) and vs. UMKC (Dec. 6).
• Made his season debut playing the final minute against Siena (Nov. 18).

HIGH SCHOOL
• A three-sport standout at Goddard High School (basketball, football and golf) which is a member of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League.
• Averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists his senior season for coach Kyle Taylor.
• Earned all-league honors in 2014.
• A second-team all-league quarterback in football.
• Was the United States Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award recipient in 2014.
• Had a 4.0 grade point average and was a four-time academic honor roll honoree while at Goddard.

• Son of Pete and Tara Vang … Is the oldest of four with two brothers, Tate Vang and Maxie Mikle, and one sister, Torri.
• Brother, Tate, is a freshman wide receiver on the KU football team … Father was a tight end at Kansas from 1990-93 … Uncle, Shawn Vang, was a guard on the KU football team from 1995-98 … Mother, Tara, is also a KU graduate … Grandfather, Randy, played football at Wichita State… Uncle, Scott, played football at Iowa.
