Gameday Experience/Events and Sales/Marketing Internship Opportunities
The Kansas Athletics Marketing/Fan Experience and Sales department offers student positions throughout the year including the summer, fall and spring semesters.
Game-day Crew Member
Designed as an opportunity for students to gain an introduction to working in sports, this is a volunteer position and is not eligible for course credit. Game-day Crew members’ experience will focus primarily on events with the possibility of limited office hours.
Individual will receive training in marketing and fan experience operations while assisting to promote and implement a positive game-day fan experience.
Areas of knowledge and experience gained may include, but not be limited to:
- Event and game-day plans and promotional activities for various sports depending on sports in-season including but not limited to pre-game, in-game and post-game activities.
- Community outreach programs such as donation requests, student rewards program and Jayhawks for a Cure.
- Relationship with IMG College/Jayhawk Sports Marketing in relation to corporate sponsorship fulfillment.
- Relationship with Sales and Marketing department in relation to promotions aimed at increasing attendance and ticket sales.
- Special events hosted by Kansas Athletics such as Late Night in the Phog, Ladies Night Out, Anniversary events, Big 12 and NCAA Championships depending on semester.
- Departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures including general day-to-day office operations.
- Cooperative working relationships with fellow staff members within the Department.
- Athletics Department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and staff roles in working to achieve and uphold the Department’s mission statement and core values.
- University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Full-time student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, business, public relations or related field; 3.0 GPA; Excellent oral and written communication skills; availability for long and varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); sophomore or junior status.

Marketing and Fan Experience Intern
For students seeking course-credit in partial fulfillment of degree program requirements. Intern hours will determined by academic program requirements and will include both office and event hours.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in executing event and game-day plans and promotional activities for sports as assigned including but not limited to pre-game, in-game and post-game activities.
- Assist in the management of community outreach programs which may include, but not be limited to, donation requests, student rewards program and Jayhawks for a Cure.
- Assist in ensuring corporate entitlements are activated/fulfilled on game-day and assist with requests from corporate partners.
- Assist with special events such as Late Night in the Phog, Ladies Night Out, Anniversary events, Big 12 Championships and NCAA Championships.
- Adheres to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures.
- Perform general office duties.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Marketing/Fan Experience.
- Conduct research to identify new marketing and fan experience opportunities.
- Supports the Athletics Department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and works to achieve and uphold the Department’s mission statement and core values.
- Maintains knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures.
- Maintains a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward performing job duties and in working with other staff.
Required Qualifications: Full-time student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, business, public relations or related field; Excellent oral and written communication skills; availability for long and varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays; knowledge of Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); eligibility to receive course-credit in partial fulfillment of degree program requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; successful completion of at least one semester as a Game-day Crew member.

Sales Intern
For students seeking course-credit in partial fulfillment of degree program requirements or for individuals looking to gain full-time experience in sales and marketing. Intern hours will be determined by academic program requirements and will include both office and event hours.
Responsibilities:
- Will learn and operate Paciolan, the athletic department’s ticketing system.
- Assist Group and Sales Coordinators with ticket packages and lead generation.
- Assist the sales and development offices with ticket renewal campaigns.
- Assist with special events such as Late Night in the Phog, Ladies Night Out, Anniversary events, Big 12 Championships and NCAA Championships.
- Facilitate sales tables during Football and Basketball games, University events, and any other promotional outings.
- Adheres to University, Big 12 Conference, Kansas Athletics, and NCAA policies and procedures.
- Perform general office duties.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Sales and Marketing.
- Performs a minimum of 40-50 warm/cold calls per day.
- Supports the Athletics Department goals and philosophies as described by the Director of Athletics and works to achieve and uphold the Department’s mission statement and core values.
- Maintains knowledge of departmental activities, sports schedules, and procedures.
- Maintains a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward performing job duties and in working with other staff.
